Joyce Honda is owned and operated by the Grecco family. In 2014, Jim Grecco celebrates 50 years in the automobile business in Morris County and a grand total of 60 years in the automobile business including his 10 years prior to buying his first dealership. Jim had many years of success with independent Ford dealerships before becoming one of the nation’s youngest dealer principals and buying his own Lincoln Mercury (LM) dealership in 1964. Many of you may remember Grecco Lincoln-Mercury. It wasn’t long after 1964 that Grecco Lincoln Mercury outgrew its relatively small facility on Rt. 46 in Dover and Jim purchased a piece of property on quiet Rt 10 that was currently hosting a fruit and vegetable stand. Opening in 1971 as one of the first auto dealerships on Rt 10, the landscape of Rt 10 in Morris County was changed forever. Grecco LM was now on the map as a nationwide top seller of LM products.
The unprecedented gas shortage in the early 1970’s shaped the next generation of Grecco dealerships and Jim and Joyce purchased a Honda franchise. Joyce Honda was established in 1974, moving into the former Lincoln Mercury facility on Rt 46 in Dover. Honda had not proven itself in the USA by 1974 but car buyers quickly fell in love with the small car experience and the fact that the Honda product barely used any gas! Gas was hard to find and Honda was an instant hit, although in the early days there were some product ‘bumps in the road’. Then, as now, the Honda Motor Co. did an excellent job standing behind its product and stayed the path of constantly improving. Today, the Honda Motor Co. builds one of the finest products manufactured in the world. Honda’s roots are securely stamped in building products that are economical, reliable, safe to drive and ecologically responsible.
Joyce Honda operated for a short time on Rt 46 and was relocated to it’s current address on Rt 10 shortly thereafter in the mid to late 1970’s. Joyce Honda was always recognized as a leader in sales and service and typically sold out of its monthly allocation of cars from The Honda Motor Company.
Fast forward to 2005, not to downplay the significance of Joyce & Debbie Grecco’s participation in the business and popular advertising campaigns, Rockaway Mitsubishi, Grecco Mazda or the establishment of Grecco Auto Body, but to save writing space.
In 2005, Honda’s upward trajectory was clear and Lincoln Mercury’s fate was fairly visible as well. A gut wrenching family decision was made to retire Lincoln Mercury and expand the Honda facility to include the Lincoln Mercury facility in order to provide better services to our Honda customer base. That was a Big, Bold business move as LM was near and dear to Jim and Joyce’s heart, being their first. However, our ability to service our Honda customers was severely cramped by the real estate limitations and we wanted to build one of the first Honda Service Drive-In facilities. We opened our expanded facility in 2007 with the first 9 car Drive-In.
Today we sell enough New Hondas to rank us in the top 25 Honda Dealers in the nation. We have an extremely robust Pre-Owned Department and we offer Automotive Parts & Service 7 Days a week. We offer 45 service bays and employ a staff of very skilled technicians.

Joyce Honda continues to grow and adapt to the ever expanding Honda marketplace. In 2012, Grecco Auto Body was incorporated as a department of Joyce Honda and became another suite of valuable services that we can now offer directly to Joyce Honda customers as well as the general public. Now, in addition to New Car Sales, Certified Used Car Sales, Top Notch Service, Parts & Accessories, we now offer full exterior reconditioning and repair. That includes repairing small dings and dents and repairing minor scratches without the use of expensive paint materials up to full scale collision and frame repair. Customers can shop for all their automotive needs under one roof.
The business has changed in many ways over the last 50 years. But some aspects have not changed. Despite all the technology that has become part of building a car, buying a car and repairing a car, it is still a people business– That is what distinguishes Joyce Honda. We know that we are only as good as the people who work for us. That is why we go to great extremes to only hire people who we feel will serve our customers in the best way. Many of our employees are 10, 20, 30 and even almost 40 year employees! One of our employees came with the first purchase in 1964. He is semi-retired and comes back from his southern residence to work with us during the summer. We love what we do and hope you do too.
